“What’s in the Bottle?” is an award-winning wine blog authored by Roger B. Killen. It focuses on wine pairings, reviews, and recommendations from a wine industry expert and receives a strong influx of traffic from wine aficionados, dabblers, and even those just looking to learn more.
As the site started to gained popularity and – with that – more traction, the overall design aesthetic and layout didn’t work with Roger’s writing style and lacked the navigation capabilities to effectively maintain traffic influxes. Roger was in need of a site that had a sufficient platform for optimal, easy user experience, as well as a crisp, clean design that matched the sophisticated nature of his writing. We designed a crisp, simple and sophisticated blog layout for Roger that would compliment his writing style, as well as a layout that would be conducive to a positive, intuitive user experience. In addition to the site redesign, we optimized the website for search engine results, and made sure the navigation, page headers, and everything in between was optimized for keyword-related search results.
Smarter Searches’ redesign for “What’s in the Bottle?” streamlined the look and feel of the site, provided a more customized look, added navigation and social media integration, while still maintaining the previous functionality, therefore allowing the site to accommodate an influx in site traffic.View Website
