Hi! My name is Jessica and I am the new intern at Smarter Searches! Born and raised in Knoxville, TN, I’m a senior at UT graduating this spring with dual degrees in advertising and psychology. When I’m not spending the day designing new things on my computer, you can find me making travel plans, attending concerts, or exploring new coffee shops on a mission to find the world’s best iced latte. Before I dive into my internship role, I wanted to reflect on a few things that I hope to gain from my time as an intern at Smarter Searches.
I think it’s safe to say that 2020 has been anything but normal. With the Coronavirus pandemic, most of my school and work-life has been shifted online which has forced me to be more flexible. One thing that I hope to learn from this internship is how to be an effective communicator and collaborator when it comes to both remote working and working from the office. The key to any successful advertising or marketing campaign, as I’ve learned through countless group projects, is keeping constant communication with your team. Having met with the Smarter Searches team, I’m confident that I will be able to leave this role with a better understanding of how to ensure that this is the case with any team project.
I’m also excited about the opportunity to put my advertising skills to use in a real-life agency setting. I hope to be able to use a lot of the skills that I’ve developed throughout my time in school. This will, additionally, be a great way for me to discover what kind of agency culture I work best in when I start considering future career opportunities.
Given the unique variety of clients that Smarter Searches has, I’m really looking forward to the challenge of learning how to work for a variety of different clients from unique industries. As an advertising student, I know the importance of adapting your tone and messaging strategy for each client. I’m always eager to expand on my research skills as well, which I know I will have the chance to do as I begin writing for various clients.
I can’t wait to be a part of the Smarter Searches team and am excited to see the impact that my work will have in helping clients achieve their marketing and advertising goals.
