dolly parton and marketing
With an office located in Knoxville, Tennessee, we aren’t far from Dolly Parton’s hometown of Sevierville. Being so close to her hometown, we have always been surrounded by Dolly (which isn’t a bad thing). Visit local art shops in Knoxville, and you’ll find prints of Dolly, shirts, and stickers with her face on it, and even candles of Dolly.

Dolly Parton has been an icon since her singing career took off in 1967 on The Porter Wagoner Show. Since then, she has had her hands in a number of ventures, from her film debut in the comedy 9 to 5 with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, to her amusement and waterparks in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, known as Dollywood, a number of dinner shows and hotels, and collaborations with other artists, to many other ventures.

While Dolly has been in the public eye for decades, she has been working overtime in recent years, and her spotlight is as bright as ever.

Parton recently co-hosted the 53rd CMA Awards (watched by 11.27 million viewers) with Reba McEntire and Carrie Underwood and opened in a performance honoring the women of country music. The performance drew numerous tweets and both of Dolly’s performances during the awards show were deemed some of the best of the night by the Washington Post. #DollyParton even trended at number 3 on Twitter.

Dolly hasn’t stopped there, either. She recently sat down with Robin Roberts on ABC and discussed her life and career, is the subject of a podcast known as “Dolly Parton’s America”, has a Netflix series called “Heartstrings”, which premiered on November 22nd, and has a new TV special titled Dolly Parton: 50 Years at the Grand Ole Opry, which aired on November 26th on NBC.

With all of this, Parton manages some cheeky social media channels on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Dolly’s social media is a wonderful combination of news and updates about what the 73-year-old star has coming up and throwbacks highlighting her past. The best part about Dolly’s social media presence is that her personality and wit shine through in all of her posts and captions. On Dolly’s Twitter, mentions by news sources and other singers or celebrities are often retweeted and shared.

With all of her new projects and appearances, expect to see Dolly Parton on your Twitter feed even more. Dolly is undoubtedly a savvy businesswoman and continues to find new ways to keep up with modern times and current pop culture. It doesn’t seem like she’s slowing down anytime soon.

While she may not have the largest social media following, Dolly Parton has crafted a brand for herself as a sharp, quick-witted songwriter, storyteller, and successful businesswoman. Although she has been in the spotlight since 1967, that spotlight is as bright as ever as Dolly stays true to her brand and works hard to bring entertainment and joy into the world. Dolly is a true American icon, and we, at Smarter Searches, love to see how she takes the internet by storm every time she logs on.
